Once you‘ve decided on the basic layout for your kitchen, then you‘ll need to think of what appliances you‘re going to put in there. You‘ll need to make sure that there is enough room in your kitchen for the refrigerator and oven – and probably a dishwasher as well. Therefore, once you have a general idea of where you want to put your appliances, you should decide exactly which ones will be put in.
A low cost kitchen remodeling design can involve switching up the décor. Install curtains or blinds on kitchen windows, or swap out old curtains for bright colored linen ones. Hang a clock or framed photos or pictures on the kitchen walls. They will also reflect light to some extent. Add some houseplants for fresh air and color. Even some colorful plates or platters leaning against the wall of a shelf can be an effective, but low-cost way to remodel your kitchen.
Single-Wall Kitchen - if you do not have much space, you may only be able to have an I-shaped kitchen. No problem. Just be sure the sink is placed between the refrigerator and the stove. Locate the refrigerator so that the refrigerator door opens away from the kitchen sink. This is a very common arrangement for small kitchens in narrow spaces.
Next, when choosing your cabinets, you need to think about the material that will be used. Choose between birch, cherry, hickory, oak, and maple. There are also various shapes that you can choose from. Choose a sleek style with a square or arches. The recessed panels are also beautiful. Of course, your cabinets should match other accessories during kitchen remodeling. Add an island to larger areas , so you can cut your vegetables and meat as well as prepare foods in that area. The island makes it easier to clean and dress your food before cooking it. Some people add stools to use as a seating area for the island. The island can also have drawers for extra storage. Place cooking utensils, napkins, or pots and pans in the extra storage provided by the island. You may need to have a countertop added to your island. If you do, a carpenter will be happy to do so.
U-Shaped Kitchen - this kitchen design shape has three walls instead of two, and the sink usually is located in the middle wall section. The refrigerator and range or cooktop are usually on the side walls opposite each other. The U-shaped kitchen design gives room for ample countertop space, and you have three walls for cabinets and appliances. This kitchen layout tends to create a working triangle that is very efficient.
Whether you‘re remodeling an existing kitchen or building a new one, an efficient design means that your work triangle minimizes the number of steps the cook must take between the three areas during meal preparation and cleanup. The total distance from the sink to the stove to the refrigerator and back to the sink should be not less than 12 feet total nor more than 27 feet. Each triangle leg should measure between 4 and 9 feet in length. The kitchen isles should be at least 42 to 48 inches wide to allow people to move around easily and for appliances to be opened with ease.
